Ethiopia Wildlife

ETHIOPIA WILDLIFE 25th November - 6th December 2025 Fascinating birding and wildlife are found in Ethiopia and my search to see the Ethiopian Wolf, Gelada baboon, Mountain Nyala and many endemic bird species. Follow my journey in my videos. Ethiopia is often called the roof of Africa due to its vast area of Highland Mountains. For a long time I wanted to visit Ethiopia after my stop overs on route to other countries with Ethiopian Airlines. Finally the time was right even though I'd been warned by my family not to go there because of an outbreak of Marburg virus, the eruption of Hayli Gubbi volcano and many notices to European travellers not to visit Ethiopia due to the security threats. It also has an interesting history. A very religious country with over 60% Christian population. A country never colonised in modern times although the Italians tried. The birth of Orthodox Christianity. Lalibela and the Danakil Depression are very popular with tourists. There are many reasons to visit Ethiopia such as the history, it's geology but my main reason was to see its unique wildlife. I booked my trip with Birding Ethiopia and Bereket Fufa who is the owner was my guide. He's very knowledgeable on not only the birds but conditions throughout the country. He can arrange permits for binoculars otherwise they will be held at the airport upon arrival. He also knew where to get fuel as there seemed to be a fuel shortage and very long queues to get fuel. It would be very difficult to travel around Ethiopia with someone who knows these things.
