Breaking the Cycle of Poverty and Trauma in Zambia | All Is Grace

Nearly 10,000 miles from Hillsborough, North Carolina, on the outskirts of Ndola, Zambia, lies the community of Chipulukusu. Many families there live one day at a time. Some children go hungry. Others miss school because their families cannot afford the fees. Poverty, instability, and childhood trauma can reinforce one another, creating a cycle that continues from one generation to the next. All Is Grace Community Partnership Initiative works alongside the local community through three connected areas: • Education • Skills training • Trauma awareness and healing All Is Grace School opened in June 2024 and now serves approximately 116 children, including many who would otherwise be unable to attend school. The school also provides meals for its most vulnerable students and creates a place of safety, belonging, encouragement, and opportunity. The video also shares the story of Winifreda and her children. When we first visited, their home was collapsing and the family was living in survival mode. With support from existing donors and members of the local community, the house was repaired, Winifreda’s eldest daughter returned to school, and the transformation in the whole family was extraordinary. It costs approximately $30 per month to support one child through teachers, learning materials, meals, and daily care. Our vision is bigger than sustaining a school. We want to help create a community where children can learn, young adults can gain practical skills, families can heal, and hope can flourish.
