It Ain’t Over Til It’s Over by Lenny Kravitz…from the album “Mama Said”. This song has some serious Earth Wind and Fire DNA! Specifically their track That’s the Way of the World from 1975. Even features their horn section, The Phenix Horns, at the end. One of the things that’s fascinating about this song is that the verse and the chorus are two distinct parts, but the groove and the chords are the essentially same through both. There are a few little changes, notably the chorus leading to the guitar solo, and the long outro after the “sitar” comes in. Speaking of… I don’t have an electric sitar. So I used an envelope filter model similar to an old Mu-Tron III with the Telecaster. Seems close enough! Vocal, keyboard, drum, bass, and horn backing tracks made using software. Edited and mixed in a way to stay as true to the original as possible. Like most of my other guitar cover projects, I attempted to recreate the studio version as closely as possible....to my ear and ability. Played through Amplitube 5 by IK Multimedia. Interfaced to Macbook Pro via an AXE I/O ONE, and recorded using Garage Band.
