FIRST DROP on the PENN FATHOM Was INSANE… 2m Mako Shark! | Deep Drop Fishing Kiama Canyons

After picking up my new Penn Fathom deep drop setup, it was finally time to put it to the test offshore. Joined by two great mates, Tireh and Tim, we headed wide to the Kiama Canyons chasing Gemfish and whatever other deep-water species we could find. The day started rough with rain and less-than-ideal conditions, but we pushed on hoping things would improve. What happened next was something none of us expected… On the very first drop with the new Penn Fathom, we hooked an absolute monster from the deep — a massive Mako shark around 2 metres long. The new rod and reel combo handled the fight brilliantly, and after an epic battle we managed to get this incredible creature right alongside the boat… before it finally bit through the leader and made its escape. As the weather cleared, the fishing only got better. We found the fish, put together an awesome feed, and ended the day with plenty for our families. More than anything, this trip was about good mates, good laughs, and another unforgettable offshore adventure.
