Antidote - Final Fantasy Tactics (solo piano arrangement)

OMG can you guys believe this thing is actually done after being stuck in writer's block limbo for almost three years. Even after I brute forced myself to write through the block it still underwent a bazillion revisions and arrived at a place where I wasn't completely happy with it but had to come to terms with the fact that I would never be completely happy with it, so I spent a good month just practicing it and trying to live with it LMAO until some interpretative ideas surfaced. This one gave me the most trouble because there are a lot of textures that just pile on and then melt off, plus more modulations than usual. It was hard to choose which lines had to be stripped away for the sake of playability; certainly that RH ostinato arpeggio was very iconic and had to be in there at least for the beginning, but when those horns came in with the countermelody I just had to let it go or grow a third arm hahahaha. Anyways I tried to emulate the overall ebb and flow vibe of this, I was telling someone a while back that translating Sakimoto to piano sometimes ends up sounding impressionist like Ravel or Debussy, and this is certainly one of those cases. (not that I could ever begin to compare myself to them omg I think the only thing this had in common with Ravel/Debussy was that it was a pain in the ass to voice the melody in the big sea of 16th note runs and stuff lol) I don't know if you guys will like it, it was hard to get it close to the original for all the reasons listed above so I had to get creative in all the ways piano writing can get creative but I hope so. I'm not even sure if I like it HAHAHA but at least it's done!!!! I need a drink lmao Hope everyone is well and staying healthy! Thank you so much for all your kind words from my last update! I'm making a more focused effort to finish the FFT Piano Collections album so I finished writing Apoplexy (which is going to send me to an early grave hahaha it's so hard) and wrote a musical character study of Delita's Theme, which I'm very pleased with and excited to share! But that also means that Under the Stars will need to be rewritten, so that's undergoing a bit of an overhaul. Same for Random Waltz, I'd like to write proper endings for these two rather than shoehorn other themes onto them. So it's going to be a long road until Tactics album release hahaha but having Antidote finally done is like, a major personal victory woohoo lol.
