It was December 29, 2011, when Valeria Lembo, mother of a 7-month-old baby, died at the age of 34 from a chemotherapy overdose accidentally administered while she was being treated at the Palermo Polyclinic. The woman, suffering from Hodgkin's lymphoma, was injected with 90 milligrams of the drug instead of 9: a dose ten times higher than the required amount due to a transcription error. Three hearings have been scheduled since July, with the last one postponed. The parents seek justice but are worried about the statute of limitations.
