#15 Lyric Woodwork + Snake Road Sawmill — Property Tour with Joshua Bowles
A tour of Lyric Woodwork and Snake Road Sawmill on the North Shore of Oʻahu, with founder Joshua Bowles. Joshua walked me around the shop and talked through how the whole operation works — from the logs that come in off arborists' trucks, to the slabs drying out for a year, to the finished tables and credenzas heading out the door. This is the bonus companion to Episode 15 of the North Shore Entrepreneurs Podcast. A bit of background: Joshua spent 15 years running a design-build firm in Austin before coming to Hawaii. He started by making a few benches for a friend's yoga studio in Kailua, ended up buying a sawmill from two older guys on the North Shore for $30K, and built it into Lyric Woodwork (custom furniture) and Snake Road Sawmill (lumber sales). Trees fall within 20 miles of the shop, get milled into slabs, and eventually become furniture for clients across the islands and the mainland. Almost no waste — the offcuts go to local potters, and the sawdust goes to chicken and mushroom farmers. 🎧 Listen to the full interview on Apple Podcasts and Spotify — search "North Shore Entrepreneurs Podcast" 📍 Lyric Woodwork & Snake Road Sawmill — top of the hill on the way down to Wailua, just before Hawaiian Earth Products.
