Boarding HAL Koningsdam in Skagway! Alaska Cruise Tour

The land portion of our cruise tour with Holland America Line is coming to and end and the cruise portion is about to begin! We are making our way from the Yukon (Canada) back into Alaska and are following the White Pass trail. I must say, this is the most beautiful drive!! It is early June and there is still a lot of snow on the mountains and it is just picturesque… and very cold! Once in Skagway we say goodbye to our tour guide (Super Dave) and board the ship. They take care of the luggage for us and we go through a quick boarding process, muster drill and then we can go to our cabins which are ready and waiting. And of course have some lunch! Then we have the rest of the day in Skagway. We can ride the White Pass Railway but decide just to walk about the town. This is where travel during the Gold Rush kicked off and Dawson City is where everything was trying to go, so we made the trip in reverse. While in town we had a Reindeer Fart shot at the Red Onion Saloon… it’s like Christmas in your mouth… and a beer at Skagway Brewing.
