Visiting Glacier Bay National Park on your Alaska cruise is a must do!! This is the only US National Park that you cannot visit by land, and the best way to visit is via cruise ship. The ship stops near the ranger station and Park Rangers come onboard for the day. They will give full narration over the ship’s PA system and you can also hear it on the bow camera station in your cabin. What’s great is that this is a slow moving day so don’t be in a hurry! Find a good spot: on your balcony, in the observation lounge, on an upper deck or even out on the bow of the ship! We always like to go to the bow at least once… and on Holland America Line cruises, they serve hot Dutch pea soup outside… it’s delicious and takes the experience to the next level! The two main view points are Margerie Glacier and Johns Hopkins Glacier which are the two largest. But you will pass several other glaciers during the voyage.
