MI PRIMERA CAJA DE ACUARELAS 🎨 | Mis Primeras Ilustraciones... ¡Qué Vergüenza! 😅
We all see the result... But we rarely show the beginning. In this video, I want to share a very personal part of my story as an illustrator and show you, for the first time, the first watercolors I learned to paint with and the first illustrations that have stood the test of time. When I arrived in the Netherlands, I had a very limited budget and bought the only watercolor set I could afford. It was a very simple Chinese box, without a well-known brand, with rather weak pigments and many technical limitations. Was it a good watercolor set? Honestly... no. Today I can say that its quality was far below even many student watercolor sets. But you know what? It was enough to make me fall in love with this wonderful world. With that little box, I learned to control the water, discovered how to mix colors, made my first color chart, and, above all, understood that learning art requires patience. I'll also show you my first illustrations. Yes... Those illustrations that I look at today with a smile. I made so many mistakes. The proportions. The gradients. The water control. The color mixing. Practically everything. And yet... I kept painting. Today I regret throwing away so many of those early works, because without realizing it, I was eliminating the most beautiful evidence of my progress. Luckily, some survived, and today I want to share them with you. In this video, we also put those watercolors to the test again by creating a new color chart to see how they perform with my current experience as an illustrator. My conclusion is very simple: It doesn't matter what materials you start with. What's truly important is to keep practicing. Talent rarely appears on the first try. Persistence does build artists. If you feel that your illustrations aren't what you envision them to be, don't get discouraged. We all start out exactly the same way. I hope this video reminds you that progress is always more valuable than perfection. Big hugs.
