I Made Everything a Hobbit Eats in a Single Day (9000 Calories!)

In The Lord of the Rings, Hobbits are known for their love of food, but what do Hobbits really eat in a day? Seven meals, nearly 9,000 calories, and a culture built around fellowship at the table. In this video, I set out to cook every single Hobbit meal from Tolkien’s lore: Breakfast → Fried mushrooms, bacon, eggs, fresh bread Second Breakfast → Seed cakes & tea (yes, Pippin would be proud) Elevenses → Scones with cream & jam Luncheon → Roast chicken, potatoes, and vegetables Afternoon Tea → Cheese, fruit, biscuits, tea cakes Dinner → Beef stew with crusty bread Supper → Meat pies, cheese, and ale by candlelight Along the way, I’ll dive into the lore of the Shire — how Tolkien described Hobbit culture, why their meals reflect their values, and why food is so central to their identity. And at the end, my family and I will share a proper Hobbit feast before watching The Lord of the Rings together. So grab a cup of tea and join me on this cozy Middle-earth journey.
