Let's go see Japan's cherry blossoms! This is the third video of Touring Project 2025! On March 7th, I made a pilgrimage to Mt. Oyama in Tanzawa-Oyama Quasi-National Park, Kanagawa Prefecture. My original plan was to go see the Okame cherry blossoms on the Oyama Shindo trail, but as usual, I arrived a little early, and the main focus ended up being the Oyama pilgrimage. At Mt. Oyama, I parked my motorcycle in the public parking lot (200 yen per day). From there, I climbed a steep staircase in 15 minutes and then took a cable car to Afuri Shrine Shimosha, located midway up the mountain. There was still snow on Mt. Oyama due to the snowfall the day before. After visiting Afuri Shrine, I relaxed at Saryo Ishison, a cafe run by the shrine, where I could enjoy the view, which has been awarded two Michelin Green Guide stars. After that, I descended the mountain and enjoyed a tofu course at Tofu Dokoro Ogawaya. Pilgrimages to Mt. Oyama were popular during the Edo period. While enjoying the approach to Mt. Oyama, a mecca for sightseeing and leisure, I also looked for souvenirs such as karabuki tsukudani (Otsuya), Oyama manshu (Ryoben), and Oyama tofu (Yusui Kobo). Finally, I explored the Okame cherry blossoms, which were just beginning to bloom. For me, it was a nostalgic and enjoyable little trip on a turnip.
