We have an edited version of this interview in a separate video here. This is the full, unedited version. WHAT IS A STUNT COORDINATOR For all the insanity of Mission: Impossible stunts, someone has to be in charge of all the moving pieces. That person is the Stunt Coordinator, someone who helps designs the stunt itself but also ensures the safety of the stunt performers. As you can imagine, this role on a Mission: Impossible film requires someone at the top of their game. Eastwood and his team have worked with Tom Cruise on a number of projects, including non-Mission: Impossible films like The Mummy and Jack Reacher. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE STUNTS As Eastwood explains, the focus of any Mission: Impossible stunt is first to serve the character and story and second to provide a cinematic spectacle. The first question is, “How do we get Ethan Hunt from Point A to Point B in the most dramatic and spectacular way?” In that way, the sequence can move the story forward while giving the audience a thrill along the way. In the interview, Eastwood gives us some background information on some of the most epic Mission: Impossible stunts. These include the Airbus sequence and underwater vault break-in in Rogue Nation, the helicopter chase and HALO jump in Fallout, and the motorbike cliff jump in Dead Reckoning. These stunts required months of planning, training, testing, and rehearsal. But for Eastwood, the benefit of all this hard work is giving audiences the thrill of a lifetime. #FilmTheory #VideoEssay #Filmmaking ───────────────────── Music by Artlist ► https://utm.io/umJx Music by Artgrid ► https://utm.io/umJy Music by Soundstripe ► http://bit.ly/2IXwomF Music by MusicBed ► http://bit.ly/2Fnz9Zq ───────────────────── SUBSCRIBE to StudioBinder’s YouTube channel! ►► http://bit.ly/2hksYO0 Looking for a production management solution for your film?
