This full documentary explores the real pirate attack on Mission San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point (San Juan Bay), and Trabuco Canyon during the raid led by Hippolyte Bouchard, also known as Hipólito Bouchard, one of the only pirates to ever attack California. In 1818, Argentine corsair Hippolyte Bouchard sailed into Dana Point Harbor, landed a crew of international sailors, and marched inland to Mission San Juan Capistrano. The mission was evacuated to Trabuco Ranch, and what followed was a real pirate raid on Orange County, California during the final years of Spanish rule in Alta California.
