Boat Life | A Stressful Cruise & The Perfect Finishing Touch
This week's vlog, Ep188, begins with some peaceful scenes along the towpath, Paul enjoys a successful fishing session, landing a beautiful (and very slippery!) bream, before capturing an unexpected visitor on camera... a turtle! Definitely not something you see every day on a UK canal. Meanwhile, I finally get my wish as we head to a local garden centre to find some much-needed greenery for the bow of the boat. Back on board, Paul gives the bow floor a fresh coat of paint, and with the new plants in place, the front of Wide 'n' Seek is starting to come together just as we'd imagined. Then it's time to untie the ropes and continue cruising the Grand Union Canal. What should have been a straightforward cruise quickly turns into quite an adventure, with tight bridge holes, overhanging willow trees, low branches, sharp bends and, naturally... we end up grounded! Along the way we also pass the very spot where Paul famously fell into the canal last year while we were living aboard our narrowboat, Assumption Is. Fancy another look at that clip? Our journey ends at a lovely mooring near Leighton Buzzard, close to the Globe Pub, where we settle in ready for the next adventure. If you enjoy following the highs and lows of life afloat — from everyday challenges to peaceful cruising along the canals — you’ll love our vlogs. We share our real experiences of living aboard, first on a narrowboat and now on a widebeam, along with canal cruising adventures and the little surprises that come with this unique lifestyle. If renovations are more your thing, you can also check out our dedicated playlist documenting the refit of “Assumption Is”, our former 68ft narrowboat home.
