The Sacra Corona Unita has taken root in Salento's richest business: tourism. This is demonstrated by the story of a dune confiscated from the Tornese clan of Monteroni, which the same clan had reclaimed, planning to build two beach resorts. To acquire them, another clan, the Scu of Torre Santa Susanna, allegedly fought with bombs and intimidation. Libera, an anti-mafia association, however, has a different vision: a beach free of organized crime.
