David Lang - Press Release

The quartet of single reed albums that colored my headphones during my time at Manhattan School of Music are as follows: New History Warfare Vol. 2 - Judges by Colin Stetson, Imagination Lost by Edmund Welles (to no one’s surprise), This Is Cave Music by Moon Hooch, and This Is Not A Clarinet by Evan Ziporyn. David Lang’s post-minimal masterwork explores the extremes of the bass clarinet, and Ziporyn’s explosive playing permanently altered my understanding of my instrument. Performed on February 21st, 2025 at Arizona State University's Organ Hall, as part of my first recital as a candidate for the degree of Master of Music.
