2021-03-29 Xiao Qi Ji ~ New Tree, New Toy, Bye-Bye Jolly Ball

#PandaStory Day 220: Xiao Qi Ji and Mei Xiang spent a lot of time in room 2 late yesterday and overnight (which was where the cam was parked overnight). There was a lot of play in room 2 as well as the den. And Qi Ji nursed too, as well as snuggled on and with his mother. (Sadly, the audio wasn't available.) When Qi Ji went outside this morning, he was already up in a new tree. Those of you who followed Bei Bei and Bao Bao will recognize this as one of their favorites early on. Shortly after Qi Ji got down, he went up his tree, but didn't stay there long. When the keeper threw bamboo to Mei Xiang, Qi Ji quickly got off the teepee structure and ran to her, and tumbled down the hill with the bamboo. Qi Ji got a new toy in the den, but it's unclear what it's made from, but regardless, he loved chewing on it. And of course he was doing yet more hand stands in his den. Shortly after he nursed. And a bit later Mi Xiang found his Jolly Ball and started playing, and anointing herself with it ... and you can hear the air go out of it, so she must have punctured a hole in it. Was she trying to get her cub's scent all over her? Only Mei knows!
