Enam Suresi Tefsiri | 83-90. Ayetler | Tefsir&Yorum B0301 | Seyfettin Huca
What is the fundamental method that distinguishes Islam's belief in God from other human beliefs? Will Islam become strange because of those who turn their backs on it? In the 301st part of our tafsir series on Surah Al-An'am (verses 83-90), we examine the chain of monotheism of the 18 prophets mentioned after Abraham, the divine response to the Meccans' prejudice against "polytheistic ancestors," and the terrifying danger of polytheism, which instantly nullifies all righteous deeds. Key Topics in the Lesson: The Method of Information and Belief Based on Conjecture: In Islam's belief in God, we do not produce attributes, pleasures, or wraths from our own minds; we know God through the "method of information," that is, through the revelation of the prophets. In human religions, however, people attribute fabricated characteristics to God and act based on conjecture. * The Proof of God (Hujjatullah) and Divinely Inspired Prophethood: The magnificent intellectual method (inference) by which Abraham overthrew the false gods one by one was not his personal opinion, but a "proof" bestowed upon him by God. Prophethood is not a position earned through effort, but a divinely bestowed (given by God to whomever He wills) status. * Not Having Children, but "Being Granted": In the verses of the Quran that speak of being granted children, the secular language of "having children" is never used; the verb "wahaba (gift)," meaning giving without expectation of recompense, is used. This is a declaration of faith that creation is entirely in God's hands. * The Distance of Incidental Method and Israiliyyat: While the main context of the Quran flows, it interjects (using the incidental method) to refer to Prophet Noah. Furthermore, we must be vigilant against fabricated legends produced through prophets about whom little is known, such as Elijah and Elisha, and against deviations in belief originating from Israiliyyat that attribute the control of the universe to humans. * The Danger That Nullifies Deeds (Ihbat): A shocking warning comes to the Meccans who boast of being the servants of the Kaaba: If even those great prophets had fallen into polytheism, all their deeds would have been rendered futile (ihbat). Polytheism is like multiplying a number by zero; no matter how much worship you accumulate, if there is no monotheism, it all disappears. * Religion Does Not Become Orphaned, Humanity Becomes Orphaned: When the rebellious leaders of the Quraysh turned away, Allah gave this inheritance to the sincere generation of companions (Muhajir and Ansar) whom they considered worthless, such as Abdullah ibn Masud. Societies may detach themselves from religion, but religion never becomes orphaned; those who abandon religion become orphans and motherless. --- ⏱️ Lesson Outline (Time Stamps) 00:00 Introduction to Surah Al-An'am, Verses 83-90: "The Method of Informing" and the Belief in Conjecture in Human Religions 03:25 The Meaning of the Word "Hujjat" and the Nature of Prophethood as a Divine Gift (Grace) 10:15 The Language of Belief in the Granting of Children: The Secret of the Verb "Wahaba" (Gift) 13:03 The Method of Interrogation (Parenthesis) in the Quran and the Prophet List of Abraham's Monotheistic Ancestors 16:35 Criticism of Israiliyat/Safat Beliefs Based on the Stories of Elijah and Elisha 27:40 The Truth of Ihbat: The Terrifying Danger of Shirk (Polytheism) That Nullifies All Righteous Deeds 31:30 Religion Will Not Be Left Orphaned: "If You Turn Away, Allah Will Give This Inheritance to Another People" --- 📖 Translations of the Interpreted Verses (Turkish Religious Affairs Directorate) Surah Al-An'am, Verse 83: This is Our proof which We gave to Abraham against his people. We raise the ranks of whom We will. Indeed, your Lord is Wise and Knowing. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 84: We granted him Isaac and Jacob, and We guided them all to the straight path. We had previously guided Noah and his descendants, David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses, and Aaron. Thus We reward those who do good. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 85: We had also guided Zechariah, John, Jesus, and Elijah. They were all righteous. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 86: We had also guided Ishmael, Elisha, Jonah, and Lot. We had made them all superior to all the nations. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 87: And We guided some of their fathers, their descendants, and their brothers. We chose them and guided them. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 88: This is the guidance of Allah, by which He guides whom He wills of His servants. If they had associated partners with Allah, their deeds would certainly have become worthless. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 89: These are the ones to whom We gave the Book, wisdom, and prophethood. If the people of Quraysh disbelieve in them, We will surely replace them with a people who will not disbelieve in them. Surah Al-An'am, Verse 90: These are the ones whom Allah has guided. So follow their path. Say, "I ask no reward from you for this. It is only a r...
