Bobotie with Yellow Rice - Geelrys | South African Comfort Food

It's probably fair to say that bobotie (pronounced ba-boor-tea) is the national dish of South Africa. Bobotie is a simple dish of mildly curried minced beef (or lamb) with a bit of fruit in it and a kind of egg custard topping. It sounds a bit weird to me, but bobotie is really tasy, and proper comfort food. Bobotie is usually served with Yellow Rice (in Afrikaans 'geelrys') and vegetables. I show you how to make yellow rice in this video, it's quite simple, and geelrys is the perfect accompaniment to bobotie.
