Chicken Kiev

Chicken Kiev is a whole chicken breast coated in crispy breadcrumbs and containing a surprising squirt of garlic and herb butter. It was hugely popular in the UK in the mid-70s and 80s - Chicken Kiev was the first frozen ready meal sold by Marks and Spencer. Chicken Kiev is easy to make at home. The origins of chicken are uncertain, with both France and Ukraine claiming it as their own, but it has been around for well over a century and is a proper retro classic. People sometimes confuse chicken kiev with chicken cordon bleu, but that contains ham and cheese (or a cheesy sauce).
