Someone who looks like you but isn't you is uncanny—a doppelganger. Someone who looks human but isn't is uncanny—an uncanny valley. A space that should be crowded but is empty is uncanny—liminality. Uncanny blurs the line between the familiar and the unfamiliar, creating uncertainty, and this uncertainty is frightening. When used unconsciously, this is a disturbingly frightening state; when used consciously, it becomes aesthetic. This video is an exploration of this through psychology, cinema, and anthropology.
