Intermediate Niehaus Exercise 03 Alto

Here are my interpretations of the Lennie Niehaus Intermediate Jazz Conception for Saxophone exercises and etudes. I don't feel that the style depicted in the books and on the included recordings reflects an accurate interpretation of jazz style. Here are some of the key differences: 1. I tongue just about every note. There are too many written slurs. 2. I try to emphasize tops of contours, du-was, etc. The dynamic inflections. 3. I try to add dynamics where it seems appropriate. It definitely needs more, though. There is not a single dynamic marking in the whole book. My hope is to help students develop a more correct stylistic approach to jazz by studying these great etudes written by Niehaus.
