Thanks to PNRR funds, the two-story buildings in Ponticelli, the asbestos-filled shantytown on the eastern outskirts of Naples, will be demolished. 104 new apartments and an adjacent green space will be built. The City of Naples estimates the construction time is four years. However, there are currently no rankings or guaranteed housing permits for all the occupants of the two-story buildings. "We will not tolerate misunderstandings; homes must be for everyone," Xhesika Kolici of the two-story committee explained to Fanpage.it. "These homes will be built for us, and we cannot risk anyone else moving in. A multiethnic community has existed here for 20 years, and there are newer additions among the residents, but it must be a right for everyone." The Sixth Municipality of Naples has established a special commission: "We must work to guarantee this right to both those who have acquired it and others," explains Patrizio Gragnano, councilor of the Sixth Municipality. "We must investigate the evolution of the right for these people and compile a ranking so as to have a formal qualification for housing assignment."
