Leaving Hakodate behind, we headed north along the coastal road. Enjoying the views of Mount Komagatake and Funka Bay, we made our way to our next destination, Oshamanbe. To the west of this area, there are many hidden hot springs known only to a select few. In particular, one that caught my attention was a mountain hot spring recommended by a traveler we met at Nigorigawa Onsen. I was told it was managed by an individual and open to the public for free, but the road leading there was said to be quite treacherous. With a mixture of skepticism and curiosity, we drove on, the road gradually narrowing, and all signs of human presence disappearing. And then, deep in the forest, a small bathhouse suddenly appeared— What kind of hot spring awaited us there?
