The Abandoned Flooded Fish Mall In Thailand (Security Was Sleeping On The Job)

In today’s video, I take you inside one of Thailand’s most unusual abandoned places: the New World Mall in Bangkok. Once a busy department store, it’s now famous for something completely unexpected — a massive pool of water and thousands of fish living inside the ruins. Before we walk through what’s left of the mall, here’s the real history behind it: 🏚 How the Mall Became Abandoned New World Mall was forced to shut down in the early 2000s after officials discovered that the building violated height regulations. The upper floors were ordered to be demolished, which left the structure unstable and open to the elements. 🌧 Why the Mall Flooded With the roof partially removed and the building left unmaintained, rainwater began pouring inside. Over time, the basement filled with water, turning into a deep, stagnant pool. 🐠 Why Fish Were Introduced The standing water attracted mosquitoes and became a serious pest problem for the surrounding neighborhood. To control the mosquito population, locals introduced tilapia and other fish into the flooded area. The fish multiplied quickly, creating the bizarre sight that made the mall go viral worldwide. 🚫 What Happened Later Authorities eventually drained the water and removed the fish, but the eerie remains of the mall are still a haunting reminder of how nature can take over when a place is abandoned.
