Prolongement de la ligne bleue : le tunnelier est arrivé à Montréal

The extension of Montreal's Blue Line metro has reached a crucial milestone: starting in April, a massive tunnel boring machine will begin excavating the tunnel that will connect Saint-Léonard to Anjou, paving the way for five new stations scheduled to open in 2031. Arriving from Germany and assembled piece by piece, it is the largest tunnel boring machine ever used on a construction site in Quebec. This colossal project is estimated at $7.7 billion. With its 13 work sites spread over 6 km, and its employees working up to 34 meters underground, the Blue Line extension is "the largest public works project currently underway in Quebec," according to the Société de transport de Montréal (STM).
