The Downs Light Railway, Malvern, Open Day 1st May 2017

A rare open day at this private 9 1/2" Gauge line at a school at Colwall in Herefordshire, near Malvern. Built in 1925 and maintained by the pupils, it bills itself as the oldest private miniature railway in the country. It was restored from dereliction in the 1970's, by pupils and former pupils, and also by noted narrow gauge railway author James Boyd who lived within walking distance of it. He wrote a book about the railway called 'Don't Stand Up in the Tunnel'. Why didn't I go to a school with a miniature railway round the cricket pitch? Filmed and produced by Dave Waldren.
