9 Lessons I Wish I Knew Earlier As Freelance Product Designer

Looking back, I realize that every mistake I made as a freelancer and product designer was a lesson in disguise. In this video, I share 9 lessons I wish I knew earlier, honest insights about client communication, pricing your work, setting boundaries, and growing as a creative professional. If you’re just starting your freelancing journey, or you’re trying to level up as a designer, these lessons will help you avoid the mistakes that cost me time, money, and confidence. These are the stories that shaped me, the moments I regret, but also the ones that defined who I am as a designer, leader, and creative entrepreneur. --- It took me around two months to create this 9-minute video. Everything was shot on my iPhone 15 Pro Max using random lights I had around the house and a single tripod. In total, 144 shots made it into the final cut, and probably twice as many were failed attempts to get the “perfect” one 😅. I honestly lost track of how long the editing took, but it was a lot. This was my first attempt at making something more cinematic, and even though it’s far from perfect, I genuinely hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed creating it. --- Learn more about my work: 👉 https://kvs.services/ --- Timestamps: 00:00 – Intro 00:39 – Underestimation 01:40 – Undervaluation 02:32 – Protection 03:29 – Communication 04:26 – Clients Safety 05:08 – Right Fit 06:02 – Manipulation 06:33 – Correct Speed 07:16 – Promises 07:54 – Culmination --- #ux #uidesignlearning #uxdesign #desgins #ui #uid #freelancing #freelance #freelancer #mistakes #mymistake #myregrets #productdesign #productdesigner #tips #learning #designtips #designlearning #designprocess #design #designer #cinematic #designtips
