#news #police #arrest #cops #shoplifting #kroger Report: On 11/09/2021, Officer responded to a Kroger in reference to a shoplifting in progress. When officer arrived, the caller/manager already had made contact with the suspect. He was at the customer service desk. The manager was trying to tell him that she knew he had product concealed in his jacket and pants. She was attempting to get him to give the belongings back and they would just provide him with a criminal trespass warning (barring). He did not want to comply. Officer walked up to the suspect and was able to see the top of a deodorant stick through the buttons of his blue jean jacket. The suspect also had a very large bulge in his waistband. He proceeded to tell us that he had not done anything wrong. When the officer asked what the product was that was in his jacket, he turned to his side and tried to cover it up. The officer then grabbed his right arm and told him to put his hands behind his back. He tensed up and began to resist arrest, pulling his arm away from me and towards the front of his body. Another officer was there and came to assist in making the arrest. They continued to try and place his hands behind his back, telling him to relax or he was going to get charged with obstruction. The suspect continued to Ignore our commands. Officer decided that having the suspect on the ground would give them the advantage in making the arrest. The Officers forcefully escorted the suspect to the ground. After demanding for him to put his hands behind his back and treating additional pain compliance, the suspect placed his hands behind his back and the officers were able to get him into handcuffs behind his back. After standing the suspect back up, the officers began to search him and get the concealed merchandise out of his clothing. The following items were located: 2 bags of Tide Pods ($6.99 each), 1 Downy Tide ($4.99), 2 Degree woman's deodorant ($5.49 each), 1 Degree spray deodorant ($5.99), 1 Old Spice Deodorant ($5.29), 1 Febreze Plug-in air freshener ($9.99), 3 Dove body wash ($6.99). When asked, The suspect told the officers that his name was. There was no return and no history with that name. The suspect told the officers that he had been pulled over recently. Asked if he had a license and he couldn't provide the officers with a straight answer. The suspect had a Ga voter's ID in his pocket with his real name. The ID was old and the picture was undistinguishable. An officer went to their car and was able to get a good photo of the suspect. The officers were able to determine based off the photo that the id was the suspects. The manager scanned the items and provided the suspect with the receipt with the items and prices. As the officers escorted the suspect out the door, the manager told the suspect that he was barred from the property for a period of 2 years. Once outside, the officers attempted to place him in the back of my patrol car. The suspect attempted to break free from officers and run. The suspect was unsuccessful. He was not willing to go into the back of my patrol car on his own. Officers forced the suspect into the back of the back of the patrol car, one pulling him from behind and another pushing him in. Once out of the vehicle at the jail, the deputies came outside to assist the transfer from my vehicle to the building. While doing so, the suspect attempted to break free again but was unsuccessful. The suspect was turned over to the jails custody and the officer will be seeking warrants for shoplifting, obstruction, and providing a false name and date of birth.
