Meanwhile, waiting times are skyrocketing. In some areas, patients sometimes have to wait several months for an appointment. As a result, many patients forgo consultations, even when they have concerns. This is precisely the problem that DermaScan seeks to solve. The startup focuses on a single procedure: skin cancer screening. To achieve this, it combines trained general practitioners, imaging technology, total body mapping, and artificial intelligence. The goal is not to replace doctors, but to better support them. AI runs in the background, analyzing images and alerting users if a lesion appears to have been missed. Florian also explains why early detection is crucial. When skin cancer is detected early, the five-year survival rate can reach almost 100%. But when it is detected late, this figure drops sharply. DermaScan has raised €2.5 million and now has several centers in Paris. It aims to open in about ten cities and is developing its own technology to make screening more accessible.
