Building a DDR5 SPD Programmer
💾 DOWNLOAD KICAD FILES & PCB GERBERS: The custom layout files, Arduino code sketches and SPD RW software (I just patched it! - no need of date change anymore) for this DDR5 SPD Programmer are hosted completely free in our community Discord server. In this video, I build a DIY DDR5 SPD reader/writer based on the SPD RW project using an Arduino Nano and a custom PCB that I designed from scratch. After assembling and testing the programmer, I use it to communicate with the DDR5 module and begin diagnosing the fault. What started as a simple SPD investigation quickly turned into something much more interesting. After closer inspection, I discovered that one of the BGA memory chips had partially separated from the PCB, causing the module to fail. In this video: ✔ Designing a custom DDR5 SPD programmer PCB ✔ Building the programmer with an Arduino Nano ✔ Reading DDR5 SPD data ✔ Diagnosing a faulty DDR5 RAM module ✔ Microscopic inspection of the memory chips ✔ Discovering the real hardware failure The repair isn't finished yet! In Part 2, I'll remove the memory chips, inspect the solder joints, perform a full BGA reball, and find out whether this DDR5 stick can be brought back to life. If you enjoy electronics repair, BGA rework, motherboard diagnostics, and reverse engineering, make sure to subscribe so you don't miss the next part. Link to all files on my Discord channel. - includes all software files, arduino sketch, gerbers for the PCB and some dumps I found. #DDR5 #RAMRepair #ArduinoNano #SPD #BGARepair #ElectronicsRepair #PCBDesign #MemoryRepair #DIYElectronics #Microsoldering
