Large Format Lens Restoration - Part 1

Restoration Project #37: Large Format Lens - Part 1 Earlier this year, a friend from Germany asked around if anybody knew about a "weird lens" he found in a dumpster. Having studied a fair bit about photography, I provided some insights and offered my helping paw in an attempt to get it into working order. The glass appears to be in good condition: nothing scratched, and it seems to be clear all the way through. But overall it was in bad condition: the lens was wobbling around. Both inside the lens plate and within itself; that is the front and back parts were not properly connected anymore. Something was broken for sure. When I got the lens, I put it on my "future projects" shelf for a bit - it didn't look too troublesome. But when I started with the project... well... you see that it's at least two parts for a video. Come and find out how bad it actually is and join for the next related video to see if I can resurrect it! 0:00 Intro / Large Format Lens 101 2:20 First Impressions / Speed Ring 4:19 Shutter Faceplate / Shutter Impressions 6:05 Speed Selection Disc / Trigger Parts / Main Spring Release 7:24 Self Timer and Timing Clockwork Attempts / "Drive Ring" 8:27 Trigger and X/M Poking / Shutter Lock Button 10:00 Use More Force! / Timing Section 11:06 Trigger and X/M Removal 12:25 Main Spring Screw / Self Timer 13:31 Even more Force: Back Lens / Shutter Ring 14:45 Ball and Spring Detent / Bottom Screws 15:40 The Core! / Aperture 16:55 Shutter Blades 18:33 Bye / The Closing Joke Thanks to Poink for providing an additional voice for the closing joke bit! Leave feedback on the general idea; I might substitute something like that for when I don't have funny outtakes!
