Ayako Wakao—a leading actress of the Showa era, who starred in over 260 films as a star of Daiei Film Company. She was married twice. She separated from her first husband after six years, paying alimony herself. Her second husband was Kisho Kurokawa, a married architect with a family. They met in 1976 and married seven years later. They lived separately for 24 years. Kusho hid his pancreatic cancer from his wife until shortly before his death. In 2007, after their last conversation, Kurokawa passed away at the age of 73. Eighteen years have passed since then. Now 92, she lives on under the name "Ayako Kurokawa." There is much about this couple that remains unspoken.
