I Found Singapore's Best Cycling Tour Guides (They Even Paid for My Lunch)
Follow me as I scramble to make it to Singapore's legendary Friday group ride with Specialized! These rides start at an absolutely brutal 5:30 AM, and when you're running even just 1 minute late, you know you're in for a world of pain trying to catch up. What started as a simple 30km loop turned into the most unexpected day of my entire Singapore trip - complete with unwilling tour guides, epic climbs, and some seriously good eats! After somehow surviving the early morning pace and getting treated to coffee by Specialized, Jasper and Bill got voluntarily conscripted as Anthony and my personal Singapore tour guides for the day. First stop? Mount Faber - Singapore's "most famous climb" (and I use that term very loosely!). But honestly, after Singapore's relentless humidity had me sweating through every piece of kit I owned, any elevation was a welcome challenge. The real adventure began when we rolled into Maxwell Hawker Centre for some much-needed caffeine, sugar cane drinks, and proper Mee Pok. These guys didn't just show me where to ride - they showed me exactly what to eat and even shouted lunch! This is what happens when Singapore's cycling community takes you under their wing. Jasper and I squeezed in some extra kilometres before calling it a day, but I wasn't done with Singapore's food scene. Later that night, I hit up a legendary chicken rice spot in Balestier for the perfect end to an epic cycling day. This experience perfectly showcased what makes Singapore's cycling community so special - the early starts are brutal, but the people make it all worthwhile. From group ride chaos to becoming honorary locals for a day, this is exactly the kind of authentic cycling adventure I live for. Hope you enjoyed this sweaty Singapore adventure!
