Berlioz: Symphonie Fantastique. Eugene Goossens and the London Symphony Orchestra. (1960)

Hector Berlioz (1803-1869) wrote his Symphonie Fantastique in 1830. The symphony was far ahead of its time and remains a landmark composition of the Romantic Era. (Don't miss the orchestral bells at 44:27 that are ultra realistic!) This is an Everest recording, and the label's records from that the time usually had excellent sound. This one, or maybe just my copy, has some noise that may be either tape or vinyl noise that simply cannot be eliminated in a transfer (without destroying the sound of the album). So consider this a real vinyl experience as after a short time - the sound just becomes background noise, not unlike air circulating in a concert hall, or the rustling of an audience. I probably have more versions of this symphony in my collection than any other. Thus, there will likely be other performances of this symphony will be forthcoming. If you have any favorite versions let me know - I might have it.
