The failure on that engine consists of it overheating either because of long duration between oil changes or because of insufficient air flow keeping the cylinders cool. Intern that causes the valve guide to hang on to the valve as it is going in and out of the cylinder and causes the guide to push out. Then the coil cannot be compressed and the rocker arm not having as much give as the pushrod makes the pushrod bend or break. If that happens to you on your mower you then have to determine if you want to try to repair the valve guide or if you want to replace the entire head. I discussed both those options in this video.
