The Heatwave is Ruining my Allotment Plans!

Everything is overdue for planting. But it's too hot to plant anything out! This week at my allotment I've been trying to garden through a 30C heatwave, just over a week after we were still having frosts! The extreme back to back weather conditions have completely disrupted my planting plans. I've spent most of the week doing little more than watering, while many of my plants have become stressed, root-bound and desperate to get into the ground. in this video I assess the situation, decide which plants need attention most urgently and attempt to tackle my ever-growing planting list. The plan for the day was to plant out climbing flowers, dahlias and cosmos, but the heat soon becomes too much. Instead I focus on putting up netting on my pumpkin arch and wigwam and finally planting out my home-grown sweet potato slips into buckets. This is my first year growing sweet potatoes, and one of them has already started producing tiny sweet potatoes in its pot! To finish the day, I harvest beautiful strawberries, peas, radishes, lettuce and kohlrabi.
