Why CP Awareness Month Isn’t Helping Us (And What Needs to Change)
March is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month—but what are we really raising awareness for? As someone living with cerebral palsy, I’ve started to question why so much of the conversation and fundraising is focused on “finding a cure” instead of improving the daily lives of people who are already here, living it every single day. In this video, I’m sharing my honest perspective on CP Awareness Month, why the current approach can feel disconnected from real needs, and what I believe actually matters: accessible equipment, better healthcare support, funding for caregivers, and resources that help us live fuller, more independent lives right now. This isn’t about ignoring research—it’s about shifting priorities. Because while people are searching for a cure someday, we’re just trying to get through today. It’s time to move from awareness to action.
