University of Fort Hare Choir | Uhambo Lwesithwalandwe - uTambo

Isithwalandwe is the name of a prestigious honour bestowed by the African National Congress (ANC) upon individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the struggle against apartheid. The term Isithwalandwe literally means “the one who wears the plumes of a rare bird,” symbolising supreme bravery, leadership, and sacrifice. This song pays tribute to O.R. Tambo, one of the great heroes awarded Isithwalandwe. It reflects on his long and courageous journey, celebrating his exceptional leadership, steadfast commitment, and heroic spirit in the fight for freedom. VIVA OLIVER TAMBO!!
