You've probably heard of the glycemic index (GI) of foods, which influences weight loss. Today's episode is all about it. Let's explore what this complex term means, why it's important to know and consider this indicator in your diet, and how high-glycemic index foods can hinder your weight loss efforts. Scientists say that the GI of foods is as important in nutrition as diabetes medication. And since it's so important for health, I'll explain it and provide research to support it. To lose weight, you start with a gentle or strict diet, a fasted diet or a full one. But what do you do when your diet isn't working, even though your regimen is established, your calorie intake, and portion sizes are within normal limits? You'll agree that a lack of results can discourage any desire to lose weight. Excuses are often made: genetics, pregnancy, or menopause. But it's one thing to have 10-20 extra pounds, and all you need to do is buy a bigger size of clothes, and quite another to have 40-70 or more pounds. This isn't just an external form, but a list of diagnoses in your medical record: stage 3 hypertension, prediabetes, diabetes, arthrosis of the joints and spine. Blood vessels become clogged with fat due to high cholesterol, and so on. Every organ system is overloaded. Participants in my projects who weighed over 100 kg say they couldn't wash themselves; their spouses helped them. And how about this: not fitting into an office chair, or waiting standing at the doctor's office? The well-being of the entire family depends on the health of the woman, the mother, and her well-being. But as we know, those who haven't lost weight have never made a mistake.
