Layout Update - March 2019: SD60 Done, Parking Lot Curbs & Pavement, DIY Airbrush Booth...

Here's what we've been working on this past month: Canadian Pacific ex-SOO line SD60 completed. Installed a Soundtraxx II EMD-2 PNP decoder in it. LED lighting looks great in person but appears to pulsate in the video. I didn't notice until I started editing the footage, my guess is that it is caused by the frame rate of my camera and the frequency of the LEDs. Looks fine in person but I might try adjusting the brightness on the decoder to see if I can get them to look good in videos too. Some additional details added to the model were PTC antennas, decals on the long hood, brake cylinder and sanding lines. Station platform and parking lot curbs cut from 1/8" hardboard and sanded down to around 2.3 mm to represent an 8" curb. Lot's of work studying aerial and satellite photos to get the angles and widths of the parking lot spaces correct. Paint mixing different shades of grey using colour swatches I made on Corel draw to try and give me the best results. Haven't had a whole lot of success yet. Trying to get that weathered asphalt look is very difficult. Got a pub height (42") table and stools for the crew lounge on the CP side. No more standing on concrete for the operators. The table is from Flash Furniture; 30 by 48-Inch Rectangular Black Laminate Table Top with 22 by 30-Inch Bar Height Table Base. The stools are from Jysk. Started my homemade airbrush booth. So far I have got the enclosure built and the flashing installed for the LED lighting. Ventilation will be provided by a Schaefer B148-E 148 CFM squirrel cage blower. Lighting will be 12VDC high CRI LED strips from Yuji LED. Next project on the workbench is a Kato CIT Financial AC4400CW. Another soundtraxx Tsunami II PNP decoder going it it, LED lighting, an iPhone 4s speaker. Thinking about renumbering it to 1001 which is the first built in that class and I already have a 1025.
