Rewild - Rewood Irish Trees at Dunsany
Irish Trees at Dunsany Castle. Irish Trees are on a mission to plant trees and expand and rewild ancient woodlands. These native Irish trees are funded by businesses, individuals, and organizations. As the planet needs more trees, Irish Trees needed a collaborator that was committed to the environment and could protect the land. As the largest rewilding project in Ireland, Dunsany Nature Reserve is located about 35 minutes northwest of Dublin in County Meath. The Dunsany Estate, dating back to the 11th century, is a place of natural beauty and home to an abundance of many species of wildlife as well as flora, fauna and fungi. This historical estate covers 2200 acres of which one-third or about 750 acres are dedicated to rewilding. There is also around 550 acres of forest, and there are several springs and streams flowing through marshy areas. Dunsany Nature Reserve needed significantly more trees to accelerate the rewilding effort and wanted a partner business that shared the same values and was passionate and professional. Fortuitously, Irish Trees and Dunsany Nature Reserve came together, and the rest is (and will continue to be) history! The purpose of this exclusive tree-planting collaboration is to create habitat extensions, so that the current biodiversity has more room to expand and multiply as we work to reconnect ancient woodlands across the vast reserve.
