Ireland Said Its Ancient Forest Was Lost — One Sculptor Grew It Back With an Absurd Plan In 2009, a sculptor bought twenty-one and a half acres of degraded farmland on Ireland's Beara Peninsula and made a decision that most land managers considered absurd. He stopped grazing, stopped planting, and simply gave the land a chance to recover. Fifteen years later, one of Europe's rarest ecosystems began rebuilding itself. This video explores the remarkable restoration of Bofickil Farm in West Cork, where Eoghan Daltun helped trigger the return of an Atlantic temperate rainforest—an ecosystem that once covered much of Ireland but now survives in only tiny fragments.
