Aranui 5 - Day 9, Fatu Hiva

Today we arrive in Fatu Hiva also known as Fatu Iva. This island is well known for making “tapa” a kind of paper made from tree bark. After the demonstration of the fabrication of tapa we start the 15km hike which will lead us from Omoa to Hanavave where to boat will pick us up again. The meaning of Fatu Iva: Fatu - arrange, Iva - new = finish the roof (with new palm fronds)
