Purna Das Baul is a blessed son of Nabani Das, whose effort popularized the Baul Tradition quickly. Purna Das is known as Baul Samrat or the king of Bauls. He was born in the village of Ekchakka near Rampurhat in the Birbhum District of West Bengal. Purna Das Baul can be single handedly credited for spreading Baul Songs all over the world. Purna Das Baul went to the U.S. in the late 60s. He was supported by Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger and poet Alan Ginsberg and appeared on the cover of Dylan’s Album in 1968.
