Stainless Steel Technology - Prof. Sudipta Patra

Course Abstract The Stainless steel has been one of the fastest-growing materials in the last 10 years and the production of stainless steel is about ~40MMT per annum in the world which is the second largest among all metal alloys. Therefore, the metallurgical aspects of stainless steel have been absolutely important for the student and industry personnel in the metallurgy community. The course covers role of alloying elements, design of different alloys, classification, phase transformation, manufacturing, deformation behaviour and mechanical properties, corrosion, fabrication and application of stainless steel. The course will cover both the theoretical understanding and the industrial perspective of the stainless steel and will be very useful to UG students, practicing engineers, facbricators etc.
