Following recent attacks attributed to members of La Familia Michoacana, residents of Guajes de Ayala, Guerrero, reported that members of the National Defense Secretariat, the National Guard, and the State Police are already in the community to reinforce security. However, they warned that the presence of federal forces must become a permanent, not temporary, solution. Javier, the communal land commissioner, stated that the community has long denounced the location and operations of the alleged perpetrators, but accused the authorities of failing to take decisive action. He also noted that residents have been forced to organize and carry weapons to defend their homes.
