Mellano-Perego | Becco di Valsoera | Episode 19

Mellano Perego Cavalieri. Piantonetto Valley. A beautiful granite route on the Canavese side of Gran Paradiso. A logical route that follows a system of cracks and corners on the west ridge of Becco di Valsoera. In our opinion, the route isn't too difficult, perfect for those wanting to learn classic routes requiring protection. Bring a set of camming devices from 0.3 to 3 Bd, 8-10 quickdraws, and two 60-meter half ropes. For the approach, allow about 40 minutes from the parking lot to the Pontese refuge and about 1.5 hours from the refuge to the start. The route itself takes about 4.5-5 hours.
