[Preserved] ex-National Bus Company #701 Mercedes Benz O405NH (Custom Coaches '550')

In this video we ride onboard ex-National Bus Company #701, a nice-sounding 1997 Mercedes Benz O405NH with a Custom Coaches '550' body. This bus was notable for being the first full-sized low floor bus to enter service with National Bus Company. 56 of these buses entering service between 1997 - 2000. 38 of the earlier batch featured the Custom Coaches '550' body like this one, while a smaller fleet of 18 featured the newer Custom Coaches 'CB60' body. #701 passed onto Transdev in 2013. When it was withdrawn from Transdev it was bought for preservation, however from November 2021 to mid-2023 it was leased to Montrose Bus and Coach. We ride this bus while on lease to them operating Belgrave Line rail replacement between Belgrave and Upper Ferntree Gully.
